The Ranch at Rock Creek

The Ranch at Rock Creek comprises more than 6,600 acres (or approximately 10 square miles) of ranchland nestled at the base of the John Long Mountains and encompassing four miles of river frontage along Rock Creek. The Ranch borders the Deer Lodge National Forest with views of the Flint Creek Range to the east.

The land is diverse, featuring open meadows, high ridges, alpine lakes and rich creek bottom. The Ranch at Rock Creek provides a peaceful, natural environment for your enjoyment. As part of our efforts to maintain this atmosphere, we thank you for helping us keep motorized travel to a minimum.

We encourage guests to enjoy Montana’s fresh air and “Big Sky” while walking to and from activities. In addition, a mountain bike will be provided to each guest upon arrival. For your convenience, there are bicycle racks outside each Ranch building. Traditional shuttles are available upon request.

Accommodation

There are nine rooms in The Granite Lodge, each finding design inspiration in iconic Western themes, such as the great old railroad hotels during the turn of the century and the classic guns that helped win the West. Our Lodge weaves luxury, style and authenticity together in a manner unique among guest ranches in Montana.

We offer private cabins & log homes to provide guests with additional privacy on their ranch vacations, while easy access to the Granite Lodge remains. We have a wide variety of homes that are ideal for families and friends to spend time together.

For some, the definitive experience at our luxury guest ranch is to stay in one of our signature Canvas Cabins—the true ‘glamping’ experience. Yards from Rock Creek, these ‘tents,’ as they are casually called, offer the best way to feel a part of nature. They are individually furnished in a rustic camp style, featuring private baths, comfortable beds with luxurious bedding and the murmur of the creek running by just outside your front door. The luxury canvas cabins are truly the best of both worlds, a luxury guest ranch experience rooted in the deepest creek side privacy. Immerse yourself in nature by staying in one of our eight canvas cabins.

Facilities

The Ranch at Rock Creek now offers casual full-service dining at The Blue Canteen. The outdoor grill, situated between the banks of Rock Creek and the fences of the corral. Greet the morning sun as it rises over the mountains with coffee and a warm morning glory muffin by the fire.

Walk from the range to lunch at The Blue Canteen for grilled Alaskan salmon and lacinato kale salad or a more traditional burger and fries. Before turning in after a long day in the saddle, come into The Blue Canteen for a rack of ribs or a hearty steak under The Big Sky. This canvas tent-style venue features indoor and outdoor fireplaces, seating for up to 30 guests, an open kitchen area with bar seating and a selection of Montana drafts on tap.

The Blue Canteen is the perfect component to life on The Ranch where a little dust on your jeans won’t keep you from experiencing one of The Ranch’s finest meals.
The Silver Dollar Saloon, located adjacent to the Granite Lodge and Spa, provides a comfortable, authentically Western environment and an abundance of entertainment options. The Saloon, which features a fully stocked and tended bar, generally opens at 6pm daily, or by arrangement with the Concierge, and closes at midnight. In the Saloon, you will find a four-lane bowling alley with computerized scoring, a selection of balls and bowling shoes in assorted sizes, billiards tables, a 14-foot HD video screen and viewing area (also equipped with karaoke equipment), shuffleboard, various board games, cards and game tables, darts and several additional TV screens and viewing areas.

Activities

The ranch has a large variety of activities to choose from. All on ranch activities are included in the rate. The Ranch at Rock Creek provides all guests with the opportunity to find their inner sharpshooter. With four separate shooting ranges available year-round, we can accommodate some of the most popular shooting disciplines, utilizing the most current and recognized equipment available to challenge avid shooters and train amateurs alike. The Ranch at Rock Creek encompasses four miles of private access and pristine river frontage on acclaimed blue ribbon trout stream Rock Creek. Our experienced guides will share their secrets of the stream to ensure each day of fishing is exceptional. A unique hiking archery course, with eleven 3-D targets, sits nestled into the hillside behind the Granite Lodge. The Ranch offers a genuine Western equine program with a variety of disciplines available to satisfy every guest.
